What you will be doing

The Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and development of 3D printed, patient specific, trauma plates and implant systems. This responsibility includes research, planning, idea creation and realization, concept development, writing specifications, maintenance of product designs, testing and validation protocols. The Senior Mechanical Engineer must be an effective communicator with team members, management, and customers.

  • Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
  • Maintain and improve existing products and processes.
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
  • Leverages CAD experience to create reusable design elements and standards.
  • Apply engineering problem-solving techniques to product development and maintenance tasks including design, analysis, material selection, and inspection requirements and manufacturing process requirements.
  • Assure timely and effective project completion according to the project plan and budget.
  • Create and Review engineering designs for feasibility and accuracy.
  • Approve engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Complete and approve all Design History File documentation for assigned projects as required.
  • Identify, analyze and recommend new technologies or materials for specific product applications.
  • Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability, and safety
  • Assist in the resolution of manufacturing- or quality-related issues.
  • Know and apply elements of the Quality System and medical device-related Federal and International standards
What you will bring along
  • B.S. Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering and at least 2 years’ experience in medical device design and manufacturing, preferably orthopedics.
  • Knowledge of the concepts of patient specific designs in orthopedics.
  • Experience with 3D Printing preferably both metal and plastics
  • Medical Device experience is a must.
  • Preferable to have practical working knowledge of anatomy specifically crania.
  • Must have excellent communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills. Must have demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Must be creative and possess the ability to independently apply theoretical technical principles to product design.
  • Must have the ability to apply parametric solid modeling and drafting conventions to design projects.
  • Must have commanding knowledge of various software packages including Microsoft Office applications, CAD applications (SolidWorks and Rhino a plus).
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and manage tasks in fast paced startup environment.
  • Able to listen to and appreciate ideas and opinions that differ from yours.
  • Values promptness, even in environments that do not
  • Ability to listen to requirements, formulate a plan forward and sell your concept to stakeholders.
  • Willingness to get outside your comfort zone and learn new things.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to use deductive reasoning to identify possible sources of a problem and then work toward a solution
  • Ability to work with cross cultural international teams and time zones.
